4/7/25 - Free to Believe

Luke Goodrich has written an excellent book entitled Free to Believe: The Battle over Religious Liberty in America. And I recommend you read it.

Goodrich is an attorney with the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. What I particularly like about his book is that he not only explains the very real threat to religious freedom in America, he also gives strategies that Christians can use to address it.

The next generation of voters are sitting in today’s classrooms. They need to understand the value and benefit of religious freedom so they support it and protect it. Do help make that happen, we’ve launched the National Free to Speak Campaign.

I urge you to join the Cause. You can be a gateway to better education to your children and students. For help, visit our Home Page

4/8/25 - Three Reasons for Religious Freedom

In today’s culture, freedom of religious expression can be a touchy subject. Certain religious beliefs are now seen as hateful and discriminatory. Many people believe that religious freedom is not as important as other rights.

Here are three points that often resonate with non-religious people: religious freedom benefits society, protects our other rights and is a basic human right.

First, with religion freedom comes a desire to do good and act good, which decreases social tension. Second, religious freedom protects our other rights because it promotes the idea that there is a “higher power” above government. And third, honoring religious freedom protects basic human rights because it, recognizes that there are such things as basic human rights given to us by a higher power.

If you want to teach this to your children and students, you’ll find more resources HERE.

4/9/25 - Faith is Not an Opinion

Too often in today’s cultural debates people confuse someone’s faith with their opinion. So, when it comes to a moral position based on religious faith the attitude is, “Well, just change your opinion.” But it doesn’t work that way.

An opinion is a viewpoint based on beliefs. I can’t change my opinion if it is based on my belief about what God says is right and wrong. It’s not my opinion, it’s God’s. My beliefs and actions have eternal consequences. They are not whims. Worshiping God is not a hobby. Going to church is not a social club.

We are told by the pop culture that we need to get on the so-called “right side of history.” Well, as a Christian I’m most concerned about being on the right side of eternity.

When it comes to your children’s faith as they attend public schools, you must guide them to stand strong. For help, visit our HOME PAGE.

4/10/25 - Our Highest Glory

What did George Washington think was more important than patriotism? Washington said this to his troops at Valley Forge:

“While we are zealously performing the duties of good Citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of Religion. To the distinguished Character of Patriot, it should be our highest Glory to add the more distinguished Character of Christian.”

In essence, Washington was urging his men do what the Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 6, put on the whole armor of God.

4/11/25 - Righteousness Exalteth a Nation

During the American Revolution, why was Samuel Adams so concerned about morality?

Samuel Adams led the colonists in the Boston Tea Party. He also signed the Declaration of Independence. During the War, he wrote:

“Revelation assures us that ‘Righteousness exalts a nation.’ Communities are dealt with in this world by the wise and just Ruler of the Universe. He rewards or punishes them according to their general character…[P]ublic liberty will not long survive the total extinction of morals.”

Adams was quoting Proverbs 14:34.
