5/19/25 - Ohio State Motto

Ohio has wonderful state motto: “With God, All Things Are Possible.” It also has a law that allows that motto to be posted in every classroom in the state.

Ohio has 3,500 schools teaching more than 1.7 million schoolchildren. It also has a law that supports putting signs into EVERY CLASSROOM that displays the state motto “With God, All Things Are Possible.”

The law requires schools to accept the donation of a sign with the state motto and display it in an appropriate manner in a classroom, an auditorium, or the school cafeteria. It can be in every classroom. If you are listener in Ohio, or if you know someone who lives there, please, please, act on this great opportunity. For details, visit GoGateways.org/ohio.

5/20/2025 - Discussing Separation of Church and State

A lot people mistakenly think the phrase “separation of church and state” is in the Constitution. How should you respond?

It’s common for educators and school officials to claim that, because of the “separation of church and state” they must remove any mention of Jesus at Christmas or stop students from sharing their faith in class. So how should you respond?

First, agree that no one wants a Church of America. But then ask, “What should happen when a church is on fire? Should it have its own fire trucks because government funded fire fighters cannot provide aid to a church?” And religion is in our curriculum. Should we censor it out? And religion is reflected in our community? Should we censor teaching students about the culture of our own community?

5/21/2025 - The Sham

Are you and your children falling for the SHAM.

Many people have rejected a biblical worldview and embraced a secular, hedonistic, materialism. The acronym SHAM stands for Secularism, Hedonism, And Materialism.

Secularism is any idea or activity that is not bound by or subject to religious rules. Hedonism is the idea that pleasure is the highest good and proper aim of human life. Materialism, and I don’t mean buying material things, materialism is the idea that the material world is all that exists – there is no soul, no God.

From this mindset, “freedom” means the freedom to do whatever you feel like doing. This is counter to the biblical worldview in which freedom is the liberty to do the right thing. Secularism, Hedonism, And Materialism is a sham — posing as truth but denying there is actual Truth. But the sham has duped many people.

5/22/2025 - Franklin on Virtue

Benjamin Franklin told us how virtue is tied to freedom.

Benjamin Franklin made a great observation about freedom and character. He said, “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”

Franklin’s words are so relevant today.

It would be good for schools to apply Franklin’s insights to students. Religious beliefs held by students can increase their virtuous behave at school. But, if public schools sow in students the idea that religion is not welcome on campus, teachers will also reap the effects. Students will come to school without the good behavior expected by the religion they were told to leave at home.

You can be a gateway to better education and help your schools promote virtue by promoting religious freedom on campus. For more resources, visit our HOME PAGE.

5/23/2025 - Salt and Light

When it comes to addressing a concern in your child’s school, what does it mean to be “salt and light”?

In Matthew 5, Jesus refers to his followers as salt and light. Today, many churches have salt and light committees to engage the congregation in social and political concerns. That’s great! But we need to remind ourselves that we use salt to make things better, not bitter. And our light should be a lamp, not a blowtorch.

Our model is Jesus. We need to address the issues of society with truth that shines light and makes things better.

We so appreciate that this radio station is committed to helping Christians in the public schools be salt and light to those around them.
